Cable preparation

Data Communication Technology in cars or automobiles is a challenge, which the Automotive Industry tries to accommodate with ever new and optimized ways.

The current trend leads to data transfer via ethernet cable. A solution, that guarantees a satisfying data communication. Due to the cables smaller cross-sections, ethernet further supports the challenging weight matter of the interior material.

Crimping Unit

To ensure a safe and reliable cable preparation, the whole process calls for appropriate and suitable technology, both at the tools and at the press. Hereby typical challenges are the seizing or gripping of the small cables, as well as process reliability with large quantities.

Our experience shows, that even plastic-sheathed cables with a very small cross section, e.g. a cross section of 0.13 mm², can be processed without problems.

The use of a semi-automated crimping unit brilliantly carries out the process steps Zero Cut – Stripping – Crimping – Crimp Force Monitoring as well as Waste Cutting, especially when processing large batches.

Which process steps are possible using a crimping unit system?

1 | Zero Cut:

In this step both wires will be cut to the same length.

2 | Stripping:

Both wires will be dismantled at once.

3 | Crimping:

Both wires will be crimped.

4 | Monitoring:

The wire crimping process gets monitored and faulty crimps get detected, using a

5 | Waste Cut Module:

faulty crimps get separated from good crimps.

These 5 process steps will be completed within a cycle time of approx. 3 seconds altogether!

What are the advantages of using a crimping unit for Ethernet Cable Preparation?

  • One process for a 2-wire-cable
  • Same length for both wires
  • Contacts are in the same position
  • Optimal preparation for housing tamper
  • Consistent and guaranteed crimping quality even with high quantities
